  • Connolly Scaffolding was born in 2002 with only 2 scaffolders.
  • Wayne Connolly, Managing Director and founder was only 22 when he started his first company and borrowed only £7k from his
          friend's grandmother.
  • 80% of the employees had no formal training before they started for CSL.
  • If you put all of their scaffolding tube 'end to end' it would cover over 1.6 million feet!
  • In just 7 years of business they have increased turnover 600% from the first year.

  • The largest project was in Salford 2006 to 2007 and was 3 blocks of apartments and was      £1.1 million of scaffolding.
  • Wayne Connolly has received six business awards including Business Person of the year      and Business Development award which was presented by the late Jill Dando at the      Grosvenor Hotel in London.
  • Average age of the management and directors is 36.
  • The Management team of the company including the Founder left school at 16 and all
                                                 became YTS trainees, but not in construction.

  • The highest CSL have ever scaffolded was on the top of the C.I.S. in Manchester.
  • Our single biggest scaffolding project was in the centre of Chester on a new apartment      block which had roof top gardens and cost the client in excess of £550,000.
  • All enquiries, quotes and applications are sent via email to cut down on paper and      postage.
  • We have 29 vehicles and each one is setup on a vehicle tracking system so we know where      they are located at any time of the day and can remotely access the system from any PC.

    Judith Hackitt CBE, Chair of the HSE was recently presented TG20:08, the new technical guidance note for all tube and fitting scaffolding within the UK, at the recent Safety and Health Exhibition held at the Birmingham NEC in May 2009. NASC (National Access and Scaffolding Confederation) marketing manager Neil Tomlinson spent some time with Judith explaining the NASC’s latest guidance and how the HSE had also been closely involved in development of the content.
